Honoring Heritage: Redesigning the Rijksmuseum’s Exhibition Spaces

As a designer at the renowned Parisian architecture firm Villemotte & Associés, I had the unparalleled honor of contributing to the renovation of the Rijksmuseum, the Netherlands’ most celebrated cultural institution. Over two years, I dedicated myself to every facet of the museography —from refining the color schemes and exhibition vitrines to crafting the custom displays for its priceless collections—all in close partnership with the museum’s curators.

This collaboration opened the door to a confidential and extraordinary universe, where the goal was to celebrate and elevate Dutch heritage through thoughtful, precise design. With 24,000 m² of exhibition space, the Rijksmuseum’s iconic building became a stage for innovation, respect for history, and artistic excellence. Together with the museum’s experts, we sought to create an immersive experience that honors the grandeur and intimacy of this masterpiece of cultural heritage.

STRUCTURE, DRAWN IN LINE

The wireframe study echoes the thin-line thread that runs through the studio's identity — the same logic as the section separators, made three-dimensional. Replace with the client's supplied B&W filaire visual.
